Delete Your Account

This page explains how to delete your ReelQuest account and what happens to your data. It applies to the ReelQuest mobile app and account operated by Cosmic Pulse.

Delete from inside the app (fastest)

  1. Open ReelQuest and sign in.
  2. Go to Profile.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm when prompted.

Your account and its associated data are permanently deleted right away. This cannot be undone, so you may want to note anything you want to keep before you start.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, email us at privacy@reelquest.fishing from the email address on your account, or tell us the email address and sign-in method (Apple, Google, or email) you used. We verify that you own the account and complete the deletion within 30 days.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, we permanently remove:

  • Your account and sign-in credentials (Apple, Google, or email).
  • Your profile information, such as your name and email address.
  • The catches, notes, and photos you logged.
  • Your species and lake progress (FishDex).
  • Usage records stored with your account, including your Ask records.

What we may keep

  • De-identified, aggregate analytics that cannot be used to identify you.
  • Usage analytics and crash reports already sent to Google, which carry your account ID but not your name or email. Deleting your account does not remove them.
  • Service logs, which record the coordinates of regulation lookups and your account ID. They are deleted one year after they are written.
  • The research copy of each catch you logged while Contribute catches to research was on: the species, size, exact location and time, conditions, and photo, with no name, email, account identifier, or notes. It is not linked to your account, so it cannot be found and removed. See the Privacy Policy.
  • The text of questions you asked in Ask, with email addresses, phone numbers, coordinates and long numbers removed. It is stored without your account ID. Once your Ask records are deleted with your account, the text can no longer be matched to you, so it is not removed. See the Privacy Policy.
  • Records we are required to keep for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons. We keep these only for as long as the law requires, and then delete them.
